How we work

From first audit to a site that runs safe.

Four stages, one team. Each stage leaves you with something you can use on its own.

1Assess2Build3Train4Sustain
  1. Step 1: Assess

Compliance audit and gap analysis against OSHA, EPA and your own standards, with a prioritized plan you can act on.

  2. Step 2: Build

Policies, procedures and the studies your hazards call for: PHA, facility siting, blast, ventilation and exposure assessments.

  3. Step 3: Train

Employees and contractors trained on site or online through SafetyAnywhere, so every person on the job knows the risks and the procedures.

  4. Step 4: Sustain

On-site safety and industrial hygiene staff, regulatory monitoring and ongoing support that keep the program alive after the audit.

About Safety First Group

Safety minded first, since 1997.

Safety First Group grew out of Safety First Inc., founded in 1997 by Hunter Hawa. Our leaders have run plants, built projects and sat on industry safety committees, which is why our advice is practical and our people fit in on day one.

FAQ

Questions we hear from EHS and operations leaders.

Do you provide on-site safety personnel, or only consulting?

Both. We place safety professionals, certified industrial hygienists and project teams at client sites as nested contractors, from a few days a month to 24/7/365 coverage. We also do standalone audits, studies and training.

Which process hazard analysis methods do you use?

HAZOP, What-If, Structured What-If (SWIFT), Bow-Tie, LOPA and safety reviews. We also perform facility siting studies, blast studies, ventilation studies and process safety valve (PSV) studies required under OSHA’s PSM standard.

How is your training delivered?

Instructor-led on site, or cloud-based through our SafetyAnywhere platform, which lets employees and contractors complete site-specific orientations and regulatory training before they arrive. Programs cover regulatory, process safety and equipment topics.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Kountze, Texas, and our teams travel to the site. Project teams have supported industrial facilities across the United States and abroad.

How do we get a quote?

Call (281) 803-9775 or send the contact form with a few details about your facility and the support you need. We will come back with a plan and a quote, usually within one business day.

Do you support natural gas processing plants?

Yes. We facilitate HAZOP, LOPA and What-If studies for gas plant units and expansions, develop PSM programs and procedures, assess exposure to H2S, benzene and noise, and provide on-site safety staff and training. Our COO led the team that designed, built and commissioned a 1.2 Bcf/d gas plant in Venezuela in 18 months.
